Life Drawing

Long pose from tonight. I had run out of time when I was going to do the ear and legs. (20 minute timed.)

We did some sequential poses that I'll post some other time.

 Picture quality is poor. I'll get my good camera out tomorrow and take a better one.

She is moody.

She is violent.

She also doesn't like me.

This is the look I get from her at least once per day.....

1st Figure Drawing Class

My first figure drawing class started today. I will post more on the specifics of it in my next entry as I'm too tired to do any long-winded typing right now.

 My first 4 minute pose.

Second, 5 minute pose.

My last 5 minute pose. This one is favorite and probably the best of the bunch.

This was a 20 minute pose. It's got errors and I didn't get to finishing the hands. (Hands seem to be the trickiest things to draw...along with feet.) This one was tougher because of the foreshortening in the legs. The arm was bent and holding her weight like that...but if it looks wrong; it is wrong. *nods*


I learned a lot in just one class and can't wait until my next one!

My hands and feet are getting better but still need a TON of work.

Figure Drawing Class Enrollment

Nothing huge has gone on lately. However, I will note that I have enrolled in a figure drawing class at the local college. It will be nice to have something different to do every week.

Gesture drawings

My gesture drawings aren't anywhere near as nice as some, but practice makes perfect.
The point of these is to get the pose and action. They shouldn't take long, usually about 30 seconds or so.

Again, not very good but I'm learning. You can at least somewhat make out what's going on in a few of these. (I hope.) The female Orangutan was fun. :)

Human Anatomy

I bought this for a really in depth breakdown of human anatomy. So far, I've found it incredibly informative.

I've also got a crap load of other books from my boyfriends time in animation.

Sketch of a woman

This is from a month or so ago. When I draw with reference or from life, my work turns out to be so much more interesting. If I don't have reference, I revert to drawing my normal, perfect looking, semi/anime influenced woman that has no personality. This is something I'm trying to correct through rigorous life drawing. It will probably also help me develop a "style", which I lack.

While I was drawing this, I noticed the woman's face. I spent about 30 minutes drawing this so I had time to take note of her features. This woman is beautiful. It's no the perfect-caked-in-makeup-Hollywood ideal of beauty, it's real beauty.
